A clear picture of what takes up space. All features are free.

Install and scan

Unzip SizeQueen.zip, drag SizeQueen.app to Applications, then open it.
Choose a folder with Browse, or type its path, then press Scan. The app never
starts a personal-folder scan automatically. Browse remembers one folder on
this Mac. Settings > About > Forget remembered folder removes that bookmark.

Read the map

Larger rectangles represent larger items. Folders contain their children.
Click an item to select it; double-click a folder to zoom into it. Up returns
one level and Full returns to the scanned root. Names and sizes stay separate
inside the map; the footer gives the full selected location.

Allocated measures filesystem blocks; Apparent measures logical file length.
APFS clones, compression, snapshots and hard links mean these totals can differ
from disk-wide usage and the space recovered by deleting an item. This Mac
preview offers the folder map; whole-disk and bar views are not included yet.

Use the keyboard

Command-O chooses a folder. Command-R scans. Arrow keys select entries in the
focused map; Return opens a folder. Command-Up moves up and Command-0 returns
to the full map. Right-click, Control-click or Shift-F10 opens entry actions.
VoiceOver exposes named entries and actions, including zero-size items.

Clean up

Entry actions include Show in Finder, Copy Path and Move to Trash.
Command-Delete requests Move to Trash for the selected item. Confirm the exact
item before continuing. The app uses macOS Trash and refreshes after success.
Use Finder's Trash to restore an item. No permanent-delete command is offered.

Permissions and incomplete scans

macOS can request consent for protected locations even for a signed app.
Browse can grant access where macOS permits. Broad scans may need Full Disk
Access in System Settings > Privacy & Security, at your discretion. A partial
scan reports inaccessible items and does not invent their sizes. Cancellation
or a failed replacement scan preserves the previous completed map.

Make it comfortable

Settings offers themes, light/dark appearance, palettes, text size, outlines,
colour intensity, map spacing and folder-bar density. macOS Increase Contrast
also strengthens definition. Settings > About includes Privacy and Licences
and credits, without requiring a network connection.

Source and support

Download SizeQueen-source.tar.gz beside the exact binary release. It includes
the Rust core, Swift interface, editable artwork and vendored dependencies.
SOURCE-CHECKPOINT.txt records the source revision and offline build commands.
The software is GPL-3.0-only, with third-party notices preserved. No warranty
is provided; see the complete licence in Settings > About.

This preview was tested on Apple silicon with macOS 26. It targets macOS 14
and later, but older macOS and Intel builds have not yet been accepted.
